Over the years we have had several tent set ups. Now in our 3rd season with this one. Fantastic! Double skinned, been through all weather conditions never let us down. Warm and draft proof in the cold, but plenty of ventilation in the warm. If we required a replacement would not think twice about getting another. Well done to the makers!

Bought this tent for £130.00 brand new end of season last year, have used twice and am very happy with it. Was in Cornwall in July and had torrential rain and 35-40 mph winds, not one leak and the tent withstood the battering winds, I had purchased 4 other storm straps and used them, made me feel very safe!

I generally agree with most of the comments posted bar 1. The main reason for damp in tents with non cotton canvas is lack of ventilation, so I am bemused at campers wanting to block vents. The answer is to put on warmer clothes and open all the vents. They all come with gusseted peg out covers so the rain won't get in,but the condensation will be dispersed.I have managed to put this tent up by myself but it was a battle but once up it is bomb proof and practical.

I bought this tent for £100 off Ebay as this tent is either out of production or been re-designed. I wanted a bit more sturdy tent for 2 people with steel poles so it was between this or the Outwell Carolina 3. I went for this as it was half the price and the features looked good. Although its a 5 man tent its a good tent for 2-3 people. The living area is excellent and the bedroom fits a double airbed and all your bits quite comfortably. No idea how you would fit 5 people in this.
It's a bit daunting setting it up for the first time but if you follow the instructions about fitting the poles while its flat and erecting from the front, using the front guys, it makes so much sense. It does require 2 people to erect it, one for holding while the other does the guy lines.
The result is a cracking tent. I'm more than happy with it. Considering the price I paid, I know this will give me some years of happy camping. It stood up well to some torrential rain without any leaks at all. It has plenty of windows so the indoors are light and airy.
The only drawback for me is the guy ropes are black reflective ones. At night you can't see them and my partner ended up flat on her face one night. I'm going to replace them with luminous ones so it won't present any problems in future.
Highly recommended, even 2nd hand.

Just used this tent for the first time and I am really pleased with it. We had a couple of nights heavy rain whilst we were away but there was not a drop of water to be seen inside. The tent appears very sturdy and certainly up to the quality of the outwells, sunncamps and vangos that I have owned. I must agree with a previous comment that some way of closing the mesh on the bedrooms would be welcome and also the mesh on the side window especially if you are using the tent in late autumn. For the price though an excellent sturdy tent

We have just bought this tent and tried it out, It takes 30 mins to set up, which I thought was good because we hadn't been camping before. It poured down that night and was windy, and we had no problems, it would be a tent, I would recommend

My wife and I bought this tent for our first camping holiday and gave it a good road testing on a two week camping break touring the Lake District and Scotland.
We're both really pleased we chose this versatile tent and a previous reviewer is absolutely right that no pictures do the tent justice (it's a lot bigger than it looks and you can stand upright in it (I'm 6'1')). You do need two people to pitch it, if only to help steady the front end, while you're putting the back end up!
Once you've mastered pitching for the first time, it's child's play thereafter. All materials are top quality and the tent is put together very well, Outdoor Revolution seem to have thought of everything. It also withstands the heaviest and most persistent of Scottish downpours and gales and, believe me, the storm straps are worth using (the tent comes with two and I'd recommend buying another two, giving you one for each corner of the tent). Bearing in mind there's just the two of us, we took the internal bedroom divider out and enjoyed a larger bedroom area. Another great feature is the sewn in ground sheet and midge barrier, priceless in Scotland.
Looking forward to using the tent again on the August Bank Holiday weekend and would thoroughly recommend this tent for any weather and any area.

Apart from our first pitch in the garden (just about fitted!) used the tent in anger last week in the beautiful Little Meadow campsite in North Devon (highly recommended). Took at least an hour to pitch, could be reduced with some familiarity, but not straightforward. But the space is fantastic for the two of us having been used to a much smaller tent (really just a bedroom). On a particularly inclement day, including huge gusts of wind with rain, we were able to sit inside in comfort - having windows in this situation made a huge difference. However, the sleeping area was cold and damp the whole time - there are two mesh windows for ventilation, but no method of closing them off, so we assume that the damp outside air simply turns up inside. Hopefully would be better in nicer weather.
No way could you sleep 5 men (or women) in this tent, but I think most tent manufacturers exaggerate capacity. 4 would be quite a squeeze too, so I would say a maximum of 2 adults with 2 younger kids would be this tent's sensible maximum.
We had all the guys and the storm straps pegged out, not really sure what the storm straps do that the ordinary guys don't. The tent stood up well to the wind and rain, although all the tents on the campsite did as well, so perhaps the wind seemed stronger than it really was.
Overall, really like the new tent, but would like it to be able to pitch and strike more easily.

I've had my tent 2 years and on the whole I like it. It's not so easy to put up, you need 2 people at the very least and it is not forgiving of rough treatment. Or putting things up in the wrong order. First time out this year, I had to get the sewing kit out after my 'assistants' yanked the inner and ripped the loops out of the seams! But once it's up it's great.
Stayed up in a gale and you know what 2007 was like - I don't think I've ever been in it in hot weather! So it's been tested in plenty of rain. Lots of features for your money.

Not to be confused with the VRX-500. This is an easy to pitch tent. Around 30mins should do it!
The living area is included within the inner tent although seperated from the bedrooms giving it warmth & making it draft free.
The whole tent for its size is very light to carry. The poles in their own bag are obviously heavier, but both items are supplied in good quality bags & are compact.
Pictures of this tent never really give it the justice it deserves. Pleanty of space for 2 people & will cope with a cosy 6 if the living area is used.
Taped seams appear better made than some other tents we've had.
All in all, a really great tent.

Manufacturer's Description
The large five man family tent comes with pre-bent steel poles for maximum head room and breathable polyester inner.
The entire inner area of the tent has a sewn in groundsheet. It is extremely easy to erect with only a 3 pole design. You also erect the fly sheet first. All poles are colour coded.
The sleeping area is one large area allowing parents and children to have different bedrooms, or for there to be one large bedroom. The tent also has reinforced pegging points and stability strap fixing points (the tent comes with two storm straps).
With its front canopy and entrance vestibule the tent is great for barbecuing out of the wind and had plenty of room for eating inside.
